If you know get to know me in any way then you will slowly see that I have a huge love for the word ‘LOVE’
So much so that I have in tattooed on my wrist it was at one point the password to my phone (no longer though!!) and I will use it in every possible circumstance.
Dictionary definition: love;a. a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person
b. a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.
These are all well and good but it is soooo much more. The love I am talking about is endless, far more than affection, it is inexplicable and unbreakable.
The word used for this type of love in the bible is ‘agape’: it means to be in a state of wonder or amazement!
I believe that love means to be completely selfless and no strings attached. Love should be without the expectancy of return, without any conditions or small print.
Love should be unconditional, unexplainable and absolutely outstanding.
Love should cause you to do things without reason, without hesitation and without a word.
It means giving up your allowance for a child with no food, it means giving up your seat on the train or giving up your bus money so the homeless guy can buy some food. It means buying someone flowers just because, or doing the dishes that aren’t yours. It means opening the door and waiting in line, it means saving up for months so you can buy that person the thing they always wanted. It means doing things for others because you can.
We speak of love so much in this world and I think we need to start showing it. Show love to the stranger, show love to the person who is in a rush. Stop expecting people to do things for you, to make way for you. We never know what is going on in someone else’s day and who knows what opening a door for them will mean?
We live in an individualistic world, we expect things and we have an assumption that we have rights to certain services.
Maybe if we all start showing love to everyone around us, then we will start to see the world through God’s eyes. Through the eye’s of someone who loves every single individual on the earth.
And maybe just maybe we will see a Love revolution, in which people are blessed for no reason other than being alive.
